March 24, 2020 – At Home Learning
Share and Care is now “virtual” during our time apart. Each day of our learning is going to focus around a story and will have ideas for the following areas: literacy, math, art, helping at home, music and movement. We will also have an idea for a snack! At the end of each post we will include a daily Bible story and a link so you can get your Praise music jam on. If you tune in to our Facebook Live at 10am, you will also get a bonus idea for extra fun you can have in your very own living room!
Your teachers have been working on providing ideas for today’s story, There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Clover by Lucille Colandro and illustrated by Jared Lee.
- Does your family have any indoor plants? If so, ask your family to tell you about them (sometimes plants have special meaning) and see if you can help take care of them.
It is time for a RAINBOW hunt! Walk around your house and see what you can find that is red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. See if someone will give you a 2 minute timer for each color. When you are done collecting all of the colors, lay all of your items out like a graph. Which color has the MOST items? Which color has the LEAST items? Do you have any ties?
- Koo Koo Kanga Roo has some color fun for you! Let’s get up and dance to Awesome Rainbows!
- Rainbows are an awesome way to explore colors. This Rainbow Walking Water experiment, from Fun Learning for Kids, is lots of fun and there are recording sheets for older kiddos to use.
- Our special names looks even better in RAINBOW colors! Have a grown up write your name on the cloud as a model. Feel free to use different markers to practice writing your name in each color of the rainbow or you can cut strips out of different colored paper to practice writing on. If you aren’t ready to write your whole name, work on your special letter!
- Here’s a fun idea from Preschool Play for Rainbow Toast. It’s an art project that you can eat!
- Today we are going to use our decoding skills to “read” the color names and color some circles. Ask a grown up to get you crayons, markers or colored pencils in each of the rainbow colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple) with the names listed on them.
- Work on your rhyming and your color names with this song.
- Try your hand at color BINGO!
- Let’s head to Ireland! You can check out what Ireland looks like and even see a real castle.
- Do you remember when the old lady swallowed the fiddle? Here is a recording of an Irish song. Can you find the fiddle?
- Bible Story – Today we will listen to the story of another “wee” little man, Zaccheus.
